Asian Body Therapy Programs - New York

Associate of Occupational Science (Massage Therapies)

The purpose of the Associate degree programs is to prepare students for employment nationally in the profession of body therapy and massage and for certification by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

Students may enroll in this program directly out of high school.  This new program, which launched in Fall 2006, integrates Asian and Western bodywork therapy.

Students enrolled in the Associate of Occupational Science in Massage Therapies must complete 62.5 units, as well as course prerequisites.

The massage program emphasizes Oriental medicine theory, addressing the body, mind, and spirit.

Students will gain an understanding of the Western and Eastern approaches and massage techniques, with focus on both the theories and the practice.  The massage therapy program will include classes in anatomy and physiology, general pathology, myology/kinesiology, East/West massage, and clinic/practicum, as well as hygiene and safety.
