This full-text article database includes over 150 alternative medicine and complementary health magazines, journals and proceedings. Among the publications available are several Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine journals. It focuses on complementary, holistic, integrated approaches to health care and wellness.
MEDLINEplus
From the U.S. National Library of Medicine - this one-stop site contains many links to information published by government agencies about different health conditions and links to organizations, directories, dictionaries, and clearinghouses.
MEDLINE with FULL TEXT MEDLINE with Full Text is the world's most comprehensive source of full text for medical journals, providing full text for more than 1,370 journals indexed in MEDLINE. Of those, more than 1,340 have cover-to-cover indexing in MEDLINE, and of those, 528 are not found with full text in any version of Academic Search, Health Source or Biomedical Reference Collection.
PubMed
This site was designed to provide access to the current MEDLINE and then link to full-text articles where available from citations retrieved. A nice feature of PubMed is the ability to link to "related articles" when you find an article on your topic.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Get up-to-date public health information on communicable diseases (e.g. hepatitis, AIDS, tuberculosis, etc.). Invaluable information can be obtained from the Traveler's Health section including travel advisories for specific geographic regions, disease outbreaks, risks and prevention strategies, plus immunization recommendations. Full-text access to Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), reports on communicable disease.
Clinical Trials
The U.S. National Institutes of Health, through its National Library of Medicine, has developed ClinicalTrials.gov to provide patients, family members and members of the public current information about clinical research studies. Before searching, you may want to learn more about clinical trials and more about this Web site.

The online consumer health information web site produced by the U. S. Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. National Health Information Center
Provides the Health Information Resource Database listing over 1000 organizations and government offices that provide health information upon request. This site contains synopses of the annual Partnership for Networked Consumer Health Information conference.

This website for older adults was developed by the National Institute on Aging and the National Library of Medicine, both part of the National Institutes of Health.
NLM Gateway
The NLM Gateway allows users to search in multiple retrieval systems at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). The current Gateway searches MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus, MEDLINEplus, DIRLINE, AIDS Meetings, Health Services Research Meetings, Space Life Sciences Meetings, and HSRProj.
Natural Disasters- NOAH New York Online Access to Health Provides access to Basic Information about natural disasters, health and safety issues and Specific types of disasters including earthquakes, floods, storms, hurricanes, wildfires, landslides, etc.
PubMed Central
PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Library of Medicine's digital archive of life sciences journal literature. Access to PMC is free and unrestricted.
TOXNET
Specialized Information Services, NLM, TOXNET, a cluster of databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Safety information for drugs (for human and animals), cosmetics, food products, and medical and radiological devices. Free full-text of FDA Consumer magazine articles is available on the site (from 1995) and under the Health Professionals section you can access the Bad Bug Book (offering basic facts on food borne pathogenic organisms and natural toxins). The FDA Web Site Index is easy to use. Check under "Web sites" for links to non-government sites.

The U.S. National Cancer Institute's web site includes a wide range of accurate, credible cancer information such as peer-reviewed statements on many different types of cancers for patients and detailed treatment statements for health care professionals, covering state-of-the-art care. It contains cancer fact sheets and other publications. All information is updated regularly, reviewed by oncology experts, and is based on current research.

The University of Pennsylvania's Cancer Resource web page. It contains an excellent collection of pages including information on specific types of cancers, cancer treatments, social and psychological support and coping suggestions, and recent research advances. It is updated every day and contains information at many levels from basic to in-depth.
PDQ Physicians Data Query
NCI's comprehensive cancer database provides a wealth of information through an easy-to-use menu-driven system -- from basic lay level explanations on diagnoses and treatments to state-of-the-art therapeutic approaches to a registry of clinical trials (usually treatment studies) for specific diagnoses. It contains peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, genetics, and supportive care, and complementary and alternative medicine; a registry of approximately 2,000 open and 13,000 closed cancer clinical trials from around the world; and directories of physicians, professionals and organizations that provide cancer care

This is a comprehensive consumer health site with information on topics from A-Z, discussion centers, and the online advice of Dr. Dean Edell. Other features include personalized health profiles and advice about finding and using health information from an online librarian, Rochelle Perrine Schmalz, the founding medical librarian of the first Planetree Health Resource Center, (opened in 1981).
HealthWeb
Provides links to specific, evaluated information resources on the World-Wide Web selected by librarians and information professionals at leading academic medical centers in the Midwest. Their selection policy emphasizes quality information aimed at assisting health care professionals as well as consumers.

They offer free Medline access and some access to full text journals. Updated weekly; email notification of updates is also available.
